About

I started as a painter and picked up sculpture almost by accident — a printmaking class with a kiln nobody was using. Fifteen years later I can't imagine giving either one up; they solve different problems for me on different days.

The paintings tend to start from a room or an object and drift somewhere less specific by the time they're finished. The sculpture goes the other direction — it usually starts as an idea about weight or balance and only becomes a "thing" partway through. I work out of a converted garage studio with one good north-facing window, which shows up in more of the work than I'd like to admit.

I don't sell directly off this site. If a piece holds your attention, get in touch and we'll figure out the rest from there — including, sometimes, a commission built around something you already have in mind.
